New Injectable Filler for Cheeks Approved by FDA; Dr. Prendiville to Explain Benefits at January 24 Seminar

FORT MYERS, FLA., December 12, 2013 – The first injectable filler to restore volume to the cheek area has been approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and will be explained at a facial plastic surgery seminar conducted by Dr. Stephen Prendiville Friday, Jan. 24, in Bonita Springs.

Juvederm Voluma XC™ injectable gel is the first and only filler FDA-approved to add volume to the cheek area for up to two years. The filler is approved to correct age-related volume deficiency in adults ages 21 and older.

Juvederm Voluma XC™ will be discussed along with other procedures for rejuvenating the face at the January 24 seminar, beginning at 11:30 a.m.at the Trianon Bonita Bay Hotel, 3401 Bay Commons Drive, in Bonita Springs. A light lunch will be served. The seminar is free, but reservations are required by calling 239-437-3900. Space is limited.

Dr. Prendiville said Juvederm Voluma XC™ has been used for years in Europe with excellent results.

Dr. Prendiville is the only Fellowship-trained facial plastic surgeon in Fort Myers who is certified by both the American Board of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and the American Board of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery.

He is recognized nationally as a facelift expert with more than 20 articles published in medical journals and he has served as guest editor for Facial Plastic Surgery Clinics of North America.

In 2008, he was invited to join RealSelf.com as a reviewer and has now achieved Distinguished Member status for his responses to patients with questions about facial plastic surgery and skin rejuvenation techniques.

Dr. Prendiville also is the past president and secretary/treasurer of the Florida Society of Facial Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Prendiville graduated with his M.D. degree with high honors from Georgetown University School of Medicine in Washington, D.C., and served his residency at Georgetown University.

He was awarded a Fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at St. Louis University in Missouri, where he was a clinical instructor in the St. Louis University Department of Otolaryngology.
